'Anything Goes' / Jealous Gallery Shoreditch

This Sunday sees my work alongside Jess Wilson & Mr Penfold at Jealous Gallery East. 'Anything Goes' pretty much is exactly what is says on the can.. three artists showcasing what they do best, ie. creating colourful POP! artworks.  The show opens this Sunday October 18th, running through to November 8th. It previews on Wednesday November 4th, come down to Jealous & view these artworks in the flesh.. sunglasses optional, ; ) !

Which way Margaret.. ?

This year sees the 50th Anniversary of The Road Sign, an object I imagine most of us take for granted.. Designed by Margaret Calvert & Jock Kinneir their system has became a role model for modern signage all over the world.  Curated beautifully by 'Made North', the 'Design Museum' will play host for '50 Years of British Road Signs', where fifty current interpretations of this ubiquitous object will be on show by various leading (I know!) designers & artists.  Running from September 19th through to 25th October the exhibition is free as part of the 'London Design Festival' .. just make sure you know how to get there yeah.. 

       Both signs are silkscreen prints on to an Aluminium Roadsign / 4 colour print.

Made North's theme of 'North & South' was the perfect platform to silkscreen pop images of Liverpool's Fab Four & London's The Rolling Stones.  Apparently at the time you were either one way or the other .. my Mum being a scouser was strictly Beatles !

'ColoursMayVary'.. consider yourself warned, : )  I met Becky & Andy at a print workshop in Leeds a while back.  One beer in & we realised we had all spent part of our early years in the New town that still is Hemel Hempstead.  There in lay our bond.. well that & our love for graphic art, craft, independent publishing & most things printed.. !  Their shop is pretty special, its content considered and well thought out.  Their recent themed event 'Funland' is worth a visit whether in person or online.  Although it will have to be a virtual taste of the delicious 'Northern Bloc' ice cream if it is the latter.. ; (

My Secret 7" piece was based on the original sleeve for "Let Forever Be" that I created way back in 2000, as part of their "Surrender" Campaign.

Recently Rejected is the brilliantly apt website for all those genius ideas that may have been amazing, simply unappreciated, hated, loved but unused.. you get the idea.  Collated by Mario Hugo (one half of the New york agency Hugo&Marie as well as being a super hot creative himself.. ) Recently Rejected is, in a sentence .. a graveyard for both good & bad ideas.  Simples.

' +1 Co oP ' is Rob Lowe's / aka Supermundane latest curatorial project, showcasing graphic artists from around the world.  Each contributor created 64 artworks, one for every Artist 'plus one' for the website.  All editions are under A4 in size and span many mediums, from Letterpress to painting to original drawings.. can you imagine.. ?!  I am beyond excited to be receiving my 'lot' in the post soon.  Thanks Mr Supermundane, ; ) x
